The Social Outreach Committee at St. Elizabeth’s Parish is dedicated to providing service to those in need, with special attention to fulfilling the Corporal Works of Mercy by feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, and caring for “the least of our brothers.”
The Social Outreach Committee meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Center.  (Location and date subject to change.  Click on our link, below, for the most recent information.)
We are always in need of volunteers to help with our activities.  Please contact Dominick Casadonte at 742-1832 to volunteer or for more information.

Calendar of Events for 2010. 
ALL parishioners are invited to all meetings and events.

• July 7 – Wednesday.  Family Promise.  Provide dinner and hosts for homeless families at St. John’s United Methodist Church.

• July 15 – Monthly meeting at 6:30 pm in the Conference Center.

• July 18 – Pack personal care bags for homeless. Location to be announced.

• Sept 14 – Tuesday.  Family Promise.  Provide meal and hosts for homeless families at Broadway Church of Christ.

• Sept 18-19 – Saturday and Sunday.  Family Promise.  Provide hosts at Hope House.

• Oct 6 – Wednesday.  Family Promise.  Provide dinner and hosts for homeless families at St. John’s United Methodist Church.

• Dec 7 – Tuesday.  Family Promise.  Provide meal and hosts for homeless families at Broadway Church of Christ.

• Dec 11-12 – Saturday and Sunday.  Family Promise.  Provide hosts at Hope House.

Some past and ongoing activities:

• Collecting items for and packing personal care bags to be distributed at a local soup kitchen.

• Providing food and on-site support to Family Promise**, which supports homeless families with children, giving them a safe haven while providing practical guidance towards self-sufficiency.  (Learn more at http://www.familypromiselubbock.org/)

• Providing low cost or free (through Medicare) flu shots to parishioners. 
  Promoting the “Trick or Treat so Kids Can Eat” canned food drive with the Catholic Student Association and Chi Ro. 

• Facilitating the distribution of food boxes to senior citizen shut-ins for the holidays.

• Summer Mission Trip to Juarez, Mexico to build a home.

• Food bags delivered to our sister parish in Juarez.

• Working at a Habitat for Humanity house.

• Co-sponsoring parish fellowship activities, including the “Week of Peace” and the wine and cheese tasting

** Family Promise - St. Elizabeth's is a support church for St. John's United Methodist Church and Broadway Church of Christ.  During our rotation with St. John's, we are responsible for providing a meal, evening hosts, and overnight hosts on Wednesday of the scheduled week.  During the week with Broadway Church of Christ, we are responsible for providing a meal and hosts on Tuesday evening of the assigned week and for covering the Hope House (15th Street & Avenue M) on the weekend (Saturday & Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Volunteers cover 3-hour shifts each day.)
