CASA Volunteers

Too Many Children in Foster Care lose their families, their rights and their hope. Become a CASA Volunteer, Make a Difference. Approximately 600 abused and neglected Lubbock County children are in the custody of the state awaiting permanency. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of the South Plains, Inc. is accepting applications for volunteer training to begin January 24, 2012. CASA volunteers are trained and court appointed to investigate, monitor, report, and serve as advocates for abused and neglected children. CASA volunteers work to ensure their basic rights and essential needs don't get overlooked or ignored by the system. A child with a CASA volunteer is half as likely to spend time in long-term foster care as one without a volunteer advocate. And when that child leaves the
system, he or she is much more likely to stay out of foster care. Permanently. CASA volunteers must pass criminal history checks, attend 30 hours of training and be able to commit to a minimum of 18 months to their assigned children. For more information, please call 763-2272 or visit our website at www.casaofthesouthplains.org.
